Following the success of ROHM’s new coproduction of Lakmé at the world premiere in Muscat last season, the opera travels to Beijing to be performed at the city’s National Centre for Performing Arts. This beautiful, innovative production is staged by Davide Livermore with artistic sets inspired by the famous flower duet that takes place on the banks of a river where in the era of the British Raj, Lakmé, a Hindu priestess, and a British officer fall in love. A new production by Royal Opera House Muscat in coproduction with National Centre for Performing Arts Beijing, Los Angeles Opera, Opera Australia and Fondazione Arena di Verona in collaboration with Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Cairo Opera House and Astana Opera in partnership with Prodea Group.
