For families and children, this special production of Donizetti’s comic opera, L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love)
is set in a struggling cough syrup factory. Teatro Sociale di Como’s Orchestra 1813 is conducted by the exciting young artist, Azzurra Steri, with stage direction by Manuel Renga. Nemorino is a worker whose seemingly hopeless love for the owner’s beautiful daughter, Adina, is eventually requited. Children in the audience become Nemorino’s fellow factory workers and they succeed in finding a recipe for cough syrup that saves the factory. The message is that if you have good, inventive ideas and work hard, you will succeed.
