In an atmosphere of dramatic celebration with spirited dancers performing in the Greek style to music composed by Mikis Theodorakis, the Cairo Opera Ballet Company presents a rousing balletic interpretation of Nikos Kazantzakis’ famous novel, Zorba the Greek. This two-part ballet programme also features El Leila El Kebira (The Grand Night) created by Salah Jahin performed by the Cairo Opera Ballet to music by Sayed Mekawy. Integrating catchy Egyptian folk songs, this playful ballet features lively scenes from a carnival in the realistic context of projected images from popular celebrations, complete with food vendors, jugglers, clowns, and circus performers.
