21 Oman’s hotel revenues fall 70 per cent

The total number of guests in the 3-to-5 star category hotels in Oman fell by 49.5 per cent in January 2021 at 78,451 guests compared to 155,488 guests in January 2020.

The average occupancy rate in Omani hotels remained as low as 27 per cent in January this year, according the latest monthly statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The total revenues of these hotels also fell by 70 per cent to RO6.231mn in January compared to RO21.026mn during the same period of the previous year.

Among the nationalities, Omani guests constituted the maximum number of visitors with 76 per cent to stand at 59,735 guests. This was followed by the Asian guests with 7,435, the European guests with 3,482, the Arab guests (excluding GCC countries) with 2,242 and the GCC guests with 1,468.

The number of American guests reached 1,437, followed by the Oceanian guests at 708, Africans at 377 guests and 1,567 guests from other nationalities.
