MECA carries out clean-up campaign for coral reefs

Muscat: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has carried out a cleanup campaign for the coral reef environment in Musandam Governorate.

A statement issued online Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) said, “In response to the report received by the Ministry through social media, which states that there are nets stuck in the coral reef environment in several locations in the wilayat of Khasab, the Environment and Climate Affairs Department of Musandam Governorate has implemented a campaign to clean coral reef environments from nets.”

“The Ministry appreciates the cooperation of the community and diving teams in reporting the existence of such nets, which pose a great danger to marine creatures,” the statement added.
